And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, in as much as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

- Matthew 25:40 KJV

#more {display: none;} #myBtn { padding: 0px; background: none; color:#F4732B; } Camp Brethren Ministries (CBM) is a Kenyan non-profit organization that was founded on the principles of love and compassion reflected in Jesus’ words in the book of Matthew. CBM began in Eburru in 2006 when Steve Njenga, a Kenyan pastor serving as the head chaplain at the Kijabe Medical Center (one of the largest missionary hospitals in East Africa) gave up his comfortable, middle-class life to serve the least of these. His wife, Mary (Kijabe’s nurse administrator for over 10,000 surgeries a year), began serving full-time in Eburru in 2016 – running the CBM school and medical clinic. CBM has its own Board of Directors, and Steve operates his churches under the authority of the Africa Inland Church (AIC). Steve serves as the general contractor, pastor and visionary for CBM’s wide range of ministries and outreach efforts. His integrity and reliance on the Lord, coupled with a clear, executable plan for impacting lives with the Gospel attract all who meet him and are reflected in his words:...

Our mission is to glorify God through providing holistic care to the communities in and around Eburru. As a people of covenant, we believe that nothing can be accomplished alone. We need the power of God. Thus our allegiance to Christ is central as is our partnership with other believing entities. This is the reason we have deep ties with our partner link organization David’s Hope International.

In light of the above, we have sacrificed ourselves to the work of service. Our conviction is to do all it takes to touch the lives of the lost, the destitute, the orphans and the vulnerable in the village of Eburru, Kenya in East Africa. We sincerely thank God for His divine providence through the partnership link with David’s Hope International. Through a wide-range of ministries, CBM plays a major role in improving the lives of those they care for at Eburru.

Camp Brethren-
Medical Centre

The CBM Medical Centre sees over 4,000 patients annually and is staffed by 3 full-time and 2 part-time staff with an on-site lab and a stocked pharmacy. A mobile clinic at Camp Turkana is also staffed monthly dispensing vaccinations and seeing on average another 300 primary care patients per month.

Camp Brethren
Christian School

The growth of the CBCS has been consistent since it began in 2009. Enrollment in grade Preschool through 8th grade is over 400, including 100+ paying boarding students and on average 30 orphans. 43 members of teaching staff worked tirelessly to prepare them for the future and also prepared the final grade students for their national exams. The school consistently scores in the top 5% of Primary schools in Kenya. We are very grateful to God for what He has helped to achieve in the discipleship ministry in the school. All the students had the opportunity to hear about the love of Jesus. As they learn this many experienced spiritual healing. The orphaned and the destitute have also been blessed to have a place they call home at the school God has given us to get His love in to the hearts of the many kids that would otherwise be lost in the sea of poverty and despair.

Camp Brethren
High School

The High School began in 2018 with 26 ninth graders; today there are 120 students in three grades. The number of staff has increased to 10 along with an Administrative building, Boys and Girls dorms, a multi-purpose room used for dining and assemblies and a classroom building with a Science Lab. Athletic spaces are also in the works.

Benevolence
Program

Through DHI monetary support, needy students were helped to continue with education through the CBM benevolence fund, with 111 monthly sponsored students, including 36 orphans. Through sponsorship the children receive a Christian education, 2 nutritious meals per day (3 for orphans and boarding students), regular medical care and check-ups.

Ministry to Children
with Disabilities

Begun in 2018, 13 children that have either a physical or mental disability (for example, Autism spectrum) are enrolled at CBCS. Growing to a current enrollment of over 20 children, the school has begun to make some changes to the facilities to acclimate for varying needs including a handicap accessible bathroom, ramps and wider walkways and a structured program including occupational and physical therapy, and basic skill training for self-sustainability. Ground was broken and funds are being raised to build a facility to accommodate even more students with disabilities.

4H Program
(Hope Homes)

The 4H (habitat for humanity-style hope homes) is a ministry of CBM that has seen the most disadvantaged families with poor habitats get a decent home. Aimed at giving hope to the families and declaring the love of God to them through this program, CBM through God’s grace was able to build four such homes for four families. Glory to God for huge provision from support through DHI. In 2018, CBM and DHI partnered with Paradigm Foundation and since then three more houses have been completed and ground broken for the fourth.

Community
Outreach

Community Outreach continues with two churches (500+ members), a Discipleship Training Program, an annual Pastor’s Conference, Alcohol Rehabilitation ministry along with hope and support to the fatherless, widows, and the destitute through the Camp Brethren Benevolence Program. We thank God for all that have stood with us in this noble task. To God be the glory!
