At Camp Brethren Ministries, education is about more than academics, it is about nurturing the gifts, talents, and God-given potential within every child. This month, we celebrate a remarkable achievement as 19 students from the DHI sponsorship program represented their school with excellence at the Kenya Music Festivals, earning top honors and advancing to the regional stage of competition.
The students participated in three original poetry presentations and demonstrated extraordinary creativity, confidence, and discipline as they competed against schools from across the county. Their performances earned the following results:
🏅 An English Poem Titled “The Philanthropist” – 2nd Place, County Level
🏅 An English Poem Titled “Shining Beyond” – 2nd Place, County Level
🥇 A Swahili Poem Titled “Waite” – 1st Place, County Level
These outstanding achievements have now secured their place at the Regional Kenya Music Festivals, bringing them one step closer to the national stage.
The Kenya Music Festivals provide one of the country’s most prestigious platforms for young people to express themselves through poetry, music, drama, and cultural arts. Schools progress through five highly competitive stages:
- Zonal/Cluster Level
- Sub-County Level
- County Level
- Regional Level
- National Level
Advancing beyond the county stage is a significant accomplishment and a testament to the students’ dedication, countless hours of preparation, and the mentorship provided by their teachers and trainers.
Yet beyond awards and rankings lies an even greater story.
Through poetry, these young men and women are learning to use their voices, to communicate truth, inspire others, and celebrate the richness of their culture and faith. They are discovering that God has gifted each of them uniquely and that excellence in the arts can be a powerful form of stewardship and witness.
