Winter 2011 Team Blog: Four Weeks & Counting

DHI is sending a six person team to Eburru this winter.  Between January 5 & 20, follow Cindy, Phil, Andy, Anjanette, Francis & Kelly as they blog about their experiences in Kenya.

This post, by Anjanette, talks about their preparations and asks for your prayers!

It occurs to me, that four weeks from today, in fact almost exactly right now when you consider the time difference, we’ll be arriving in Kenya. Its starting to get real.

Psalm 5:3 reads “In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.”

Whether it be for Kenya or other areas of life, this is the lesson to learn… that our God loves us more than we can imagine. He loves those we love even more than we do. And he is trustworthy, his ways magnificent, and his timing perfect. The waiting purifies us and refines us. It readies us. So we lay our requests at his feet and wait expectantly.

Our team’s prayer is that in the waiting, we will be seeking his face, and not stray to the right or the left. The enemy would love to get us off track during this preparation time. He’s actually having a good time trying. But pray for us to stand firm. Pray for focus.

We will be meeting on Monday night to talk about logistics and plans for our trip. We may end up winging things a lot more on this trip than in the past, for a variety of reasons. But that’s ok. We just want to listen to the Lord and obey. Maybe he’ll tell us what to do in advance and we’ll prepare. Or he may just tell us in the moment, and our hearts will be all that needs to be ready. We just pray that God will use us as he sees fit, to further his kingdom, bring blessing to those in Kenya, and to teach and grow us as might be required.

Four weeks… it will go quickly. Thanks for your love and support!
