Like the majority of Kenya, Eburru suffers from a critical shortage of health care. Even if it was readily available – which it is not – most people can barely feed themselves much less treat themselves and their family.
Pastor Steve Njenga and his wife Mary are doing their best to fill this gap. His ministry provided the building, which includes two exam rooms, a laboratory and make-shift pharmacy filled by an undependable supply of drugs.
After working a full-time job during the week in Naivais, Mary works 12-hours a day on the weekend. Her brother George, also a nurse, does his best to see patients during the week. The care is provided at little-to-no-cost, enough to cover supply and avoid the appearance of receiving a hand-out.
While in Eburru, our team helped Mary and George treat over 500 people from up to 13 miles away, all of who gratefully traveled hours by foot and patiently waited hours for to be seen.
