Johnson Karagu, aged 19, hails from the small village of Eburru in Gilgil and was raised in a close-knit family of six. He is the son of Francis and Pauline Kiragu, dedicated peasant farmers whose hard work and resilience heavily influenced his upbringing. Johnson is the youngest of four children, growing up alongside his three older siblings: Stephen (39), Esther (32), and Godfrey (30). His educational journey began at Cedar Primary School before he received a transformative sponsorship through David’s Hope International, which supported him from Grade 1 all the way through his primary and secondary education at Camp Brethren. Recently, Johnson transitioned to higher education and joined Kabarak University, where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology under the generous support of the Rachel’s Hope Scholarship. Driven by a deep passion for innovation and tech-driven problem-solving, Johnson’s ambitions are profoundly shaped by his roots. Recognizing that young people in his home community face limited access to the internet and digital opportunities, he is determined to develop a platform that bridges this digital divide. He aspires to use his IT expertise as a meaningful way to give back, empowering the next generation in his community and remaining deeply grateful to David’s Hope and Rachel’s Hope for making his academic journey possible.
