Sometimes God places a calling so deeply within a person’s heart that it changes the course of an entire life.
For Rannveig, that calling was found among the hills of Eburru and within the lives of the people of Camp Brethren Ministries.
What began as a mission trip in 2014 gradually became something far greater. With each visit, Rannveig fell more deeply in love with the community, the ministry, and the work God was doing in Eburru.
Then in 2019, she made an extraordinary decision—leaving behind her familiar life in the United States, saying goodbye to family and friends, and moving permanently to Kenya.
Before coming to Eburru, Rannveig served as a school nurse in the United States. Her compassion, dedication, and adventurous spirit quickly found a home within the community. Over the years, many have come to know her through her walks and hikes throughout Eburru as she visited families, checked on students, and documented stories of hope.
As Sponsorship Coordinator, Rannveig became a bridge between students and sponsors across the world. Through thoughtful communication, photographs, and updates, she helped sponsors feel deeply connected to the children whose lives they were impacting.
Her service extended far beyond her title. She supported clinic activities, assisted with construction projects, visited families during COVID-19 with food and supplies, and captured many of the stories and moments that continue to inspire supporters today.
Recently, Rannveig shared her desire to retire from her role as Sponsorship Coordinator. While this marks the closing of an important chapter, her impact will continue for years to come.
As we celebrate Rannveig’s faithful service, we also prayerfully trust God to raise up another minster who can continue this important work with the same heart of compassion and dedication.
Rannveig’s story reminds us that missions is ultimately about obedience—saying “yes” to where God leads and loving people wholeheartedly wherever He places you.
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace.” – 1 Peter 4:10
