This April, during the Term 1 school break, Camp Brethren Ministries, in partnership with a Kenyan run Ministry, Cistern Mission Ministries, hosted a vibrant and impactful Vacation Bible Study (VBS) centered on the theme Abundant Life in Christ. What unfolded over those few days was a powerful reminder of how God is at work in the hearts of young people across the Eburru community.
From the very beginning, there was a growing excitement as children gathered—eventually reaching a total of 86 participants. Each child came with curiosity, energy, and a readiness to learn, creating an atmosphere filled with joy, anticipation, and purpose.

Throughout the program, the children were guided through a meaningful spiritual journey, exploring the “Five Steps to Salvation.” What started as simple curiosity for many grew into deeper understanding and personal reflection, with several children confidently expressing their faith and desire to follow Christ. Beyond this, they were equipped with practical, faith-based guidance on how to navigate everyday challenges with wisdom and integrity.
The days were not only spiritually enriching but also filled with laughter and connection. Through interactive sessions, games, and shared moments, the children experienced a sense of belonging and joy that made the learning both impactful and memorable.
One of the most inspiring highlights came as students demonstrated their growing confidence and knowledge of Scripture. In a special moment of recognition, two students successfully recited all the books of the New Testament—an achievement that reflected both dedication and the effectiveness of the program. They were awarded a small token of appreciation, symbolizing not just accomplishment, but the joy of engaging deeply with God’s Word.

What stood out most throughout the VBS was the transformation seen in the children—their enthusiasm, discipline, participation, and eagerness to learn. It was evident that this was more than just a holiday activity; it was a moment of planting seeds that will continue to grow in their hearts.
As we reflect on this time, we are reminded of the beauty of investing in young lives and creating spaces where they can encounter Christ in a real and lasting way.
“Let the little children come to me… for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” — Matthew 19:14
We are deeply grateful for this partnership and for the opportunity to reach children beyond the classroom—trusting that the seeds planted during this VBS will bear fruit for years to come.
