In the hills of Eburru, long before anyone knew her name, a young girl quietly carried a dream far bigger than her circumstances. Rachel grew up in a deeply vulnerable household, where access to education was uncertain and the future often felt out of reach. But even then, her teachers could see what her situation tried to hide — she was bright, disciplined, and full of potential.
When Camp Brethren Ministries identified Rachel as a promising student, she was welcomed into CBM Schools with the hope that, one day, someone would step in to walk beside her. She began her studies at Camp Brethren High School, trusting God for a sponsor but not knowing when that miracle might come.
And then it happened.
During a Lifeshape mission visit — joined by the Chick-fil-A team — one leader, Kimberly, met Rachel and was instantly moved by her humility, courage, and determination. Kimberly felt God whisper: “Say yes.”
That moment changed the course of Rachel’s life forever.
Through sponsorship, Rachel received the support she needed to complete her high school education, graduating in 2024 with excellence and hope restored. But her journey didn’t end there. Recognizing her calling, she joined the Rachel’s Hope Scholarship Program, where she now studies Theology at the university level.
Rachel dreams of becoming a theologian — a calling she discovered while watching Pastor Steve teach and lead with conviction and compassion. She hopes to return one day to lift her family out of hardship and to serve her community with the same hope that transformed her own life.
Today, Rachel is not just a student.
She is a living testimony of what happens when one person says yes and that person could be you this Giving Tuesday.
