Dear DHI Family,
In the heart of Eburru, lives a young man named Joseph Ngugi Kirubi. By day, Joseph is a motorbike attendant—humble, hardworking, and devoted to his family. But in March 2025, Joseph’s life was forever altered when he lost his three brothers in a tragic car accident. Suddenly, he became the sole guardian of 13 children: his own and his nieces and nephews left behind.
This story of unexpected loss and unwavering responsibility reached Pastor Steve and Mary during the funeral preparations. Touched by Joseph’s quiet strength, they visited his home with one of our visiting teams—Paradigm Hope Homes (PHH) to pray and offer support. What they found was a man doing everything he could with very little, caring for ten children in a modest home, without complaint or expectation.
Moved by Joseph’s story, a Family with the visiting Team felt called to act. Their generous donation provided a 10,000-liter water tank for Joseph’s household, ensuring clean water for the children. But they didn’t stop there, they also committed to sponsoring all the children under Joseph’s care to study at Camp Brethren Christain School, offering them the gift of education and a brighter future.
In Matthew 10:42, Jesus tells us, “And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple… that person will certainly not lose their reward.” This visiting Family’s gift is more than water and school fees, it is a living testimony of this scripture. It is compassion in action, faith made visible.
At DHI, we believe that every child deserves the chance to dream, to learn, and to thrive. Thanks to generous families like this, Joseph’s children now have that chance. Their story is a reminder that even in the face of tragedy, love can rise, and hope can be restored.
We invite you to pray for Joseph, his family, and all those who step forward in faith to support others.
Thank you for being part of this mission. Together, we are not just changing lives—we are honoring God’s call to serve “the least of these” (Matthew 25:40)
